About

Lantern of Knowledge Educational Institute is an initiative aimed at promoting education in both secular and in the Islamic Sciences. The educational institute is based in the prominent Muslim location of Leyton, London E10, to provide Muslims children, youth and adults with learning and developmental opportunities, enabling them to be exemplary Muslim who contribute positively to their communities and the wider British society.

The centre operates simultaneously as an Islamic College ( Jamia Siraj ul Uloom ) and a Boys Secondary School. The Islamic College promotes advancement of authentic Islamic theological scholarship, promoting the true values and principles of the Islamic faith of mercy and compassion for mankind, with particular focus on the moral and spiritual development of students. Of equal significance, is the Boys Secondary providing high standard of education as prescribed by the British National Curriculum.

A central objective of the centre is to promote religious harmony through promoting respect, tolerance and harmony between differing cultures, religions and communities, in particular by promoting and advancing public education in the true values of the Islamic faith. Many other facilities and services will also stem from these underlying operations of the institute.

Our aims are:

* Educate, preserve and disseminate the true values and ethos of Islam, to promote religious harmony, respect and tolerance between differing cultures, religions and communities.

* Promote the need and importance of further and higher education within the Muslim communities in United Kingdom and promote positive contribution to the British society.

* Advance high standard of education as prescribed by the British National curriculum, and to promote life long learning and personal development.

* To address the comprehensive needs of the whole individual; mental, physical and spiritual as enshrined in the opening words of the The Education Reform Act 1988.

* To deliver the education within a community and environment whose, life, thoughts and actions are shaped by true Islamic faith and practice. Along with academic progress, to encourage students spiritual and moral development, helping one to become a better person.

* Dissemination of high quality authentic education in the basic as well as higher Islamic Sciences to enable the students to think and act accordingly.

* Along with the proficiency in Islamic subjects preparing Ulama (Qualified Islamic Scholars), depending on their aptitude, to meet the needs of the Muslim communities in Europe and the wider British Society for the 21st century.
